Safari Program Summary
A safari through Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park (central and west), and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area offers a complete wildlife experience in Tanzania. It starts with elephants and baobabs in Tarangire, continues to year-round big cats and vast plains in Central Serengeti, extends to the quieter Western Serengeti known for migration movements, and ends inside the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wildlife haven packed with the Big Five in a stunning volcanic landscape.
Safari Itinerary
Your safari begins with arrival at the airport where you are welcomed by your guide and transferred to your lodge. This day is mainly for rest after your journey, allowing you to settle in and prepare for the adventure ahead. In the evening, you receive a short briefing about the safari route, parks, and what to expect in the coming days.
After breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park, a beautiful park known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. The landscape is open and peaceful, giving a true wilderness feeling. As you explore the park, you encounter elephants moving in family groups, often gathered around the Tarangire River. Lions are frequently seen resting under trees, while giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and antelopes are spread across the plains. The park is also rich in birdlife, making it a very diverse and scenic safari experience. After a full game drive, you head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Stay Overnight at Gibb's Farm Lodge
After breakfast, you drive through the scenic Ngorongoro highlands on your way to Serengeti National Park. The journey itself is part of the experience as landscapes shift from farmland to open wilderness. You enter the Central Serengeti, also known as Seronera, which is the heart of the park and one of the best wildlife areas in Africa. This region has permanent water sources, attracting animals all year round. You begin game viewing as soon as you arrive, spotting zebras, wildebeest, elephants, and predators like lions and cheetahs. The evening is spent in the middle of the wild savannah.
Stay overnight at Thorn Tree Tented Camp
Today you explore both the Central Serengeti and the Western corridor. You travel towards the western side, an area shaped by river systems and seasonal migration routes. The Grumeti River region is known for dramatic wildlife movement during migration, where wildebeest and zebras sometimes cross crocodile-filled waters. Even outside migration season, the area remains rich with wildlife and offers a different, more wooded and river-focused landscape compared to the central plains. After exploring, you return to Central Serengeti for your overnight stay.
Stay overnight at Thorn Tree Tented Camps
After a morning game drive in Serengeti, you slowly exit the park while continuing to spot wildlife along the way. You then drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a region known for its highlands, volcanic landscapes, and Maasai communities living alongside wildlife. The environment becomes cooler and greener as you approach the crater rim. You arrive at your lodge overlooking the crater and spend a relaxing evening enjoying the breathtaking views of the vast caldera below.
Stay overnight at Rhino Lodge
You descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive in one of Africa’s most unique wildlife ecosystems. The crater floor is home to a dense concentration of animals, including the Big Five. You can see lions moving across the grasslands, elephants grazing, buffaloes in large herds, and the rare black rhino if lucky. The crater also has flamingos in soda lakes, hippos in pools, and hyenas roaming the open areas. After your game drive and a picnic lunch inside the crater, you ascend and begin your transfer for departure, marking the end of your safari.
