Safari Program Summary
This 8-days Tanzania safari takes you to some of the best destinations for wildlife sightings in the country: From the shores of Lake Manyara to the baobab trees and elephants of Tarangire. From the world-famous Serengeti to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater. In a small and personal group of not more than 7 travelers, your experienced guide will share his knowledge about flora, fauna, and local life with you. On a walk around a coffee plantation in Karatu, you can step out of the car and get an insight into one of Tanzania’s most important industries. You overnight at small and personal accommodations, enjoying proximity to the natural world around you.
Safari Itinerary
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Arusha town. You will meet your driver guide who will brief you on your upcoming safaris. You will have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for your safari. You will stay overnight in Arusha
Early departure for Tarangire National Park with the famous Baobabs and numerous elephants. The scenery is amazing with the Tarangire river, which attracts many gazelles and big cats. Stay at Mto Wa Mbu
Here we will visit three tribes:Hadzabe or Bushmen are the last people in East Africa living traditionally by Hunting and gathering wild fruits and roots. They use a bow and (poisoned)Arrows for hunting, wandering in the bushes, like they did in prehistoric time. We accompany them a few hours in the morning for hunting.Datoga are representatives of the earliest people who came into East Africa. From southeast Ethiopia. Traditionally, the young men of this tribe would prove themselves to be a man by killing a person other than Datoga, or an Elephant, lion or buffalo, which might be used as the base of a ceremonial Headdress along with pelts of other animals they had killed. We will learn here about the Datoga culture and they will show us their dance.
After breakfast, we head to the Serengeti National Park, via Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will stop at the rim of the crater for a great view of the crater, we make our drive around the crater rim to Serengeti park.Geographical Serengeti is divided into two zones: Eastern-Southern, which is Covered by a vast plain made of volcanic ash which was emitted from Ngorongoro highlands, hence the name “Siringet“ ,a Masai word for Endless plain. The second zone, Western-Northern, is woodland and small Hills.Â
Today you have a full-day game drive in the Serengeti National Park.Explore the Serengeti park to see the Big five.
Morning game drive in Serengeti park, afternoon drive to and through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.We leave the lodge and go for a morning game drive; later we leave the Serengeti, not over the main road, but we make a nice D-tour to see some more wildlife. Before sunset, we will arrive at Rhino lodge, which is situated on the rim of the crater in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will enjoy the jungle view on the outside of the crater rim.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for game drive.
Ngorongoro is a huge caldera, a collapsed volcano, 265sqkm in size and 610m deep. The Ngorongoro crater is one of the most beautiful wildlife havens in the world. It is a real animal kingdom; here some of Africa’s last Black rhinos are still well protected. The black mine lions stalk through the grass, flamingos crowd the Magadi Lake and the giant-tusked elephants are mostly seen along the permanent swamps. Open grass land covers most of the Crater floor, turning yellow with wildflowers in June.
The Makat soda
The lake is a great attraction for flamingos and other water birds, while Predators hide in the mash to ambush animals that come to drink from the River which feeds the lake. Also on the crater floor are swamps, providing Water and habitat for elephants and hippos, as well as numerous smaller Creatures such as frogs and snakes.
Lunch in the crater. Late afternoon, exit the crater and drive to Karatu area.
After leisure breakfast we will drive to Mto wambu area and take a short walk around the local market. In the afternoon, drive to Kilimanjaro international airport (JRO) and fly home.
